Hello. I pray that this post finds all of you doing well in the post holiday season of the celebration of our Lord and savior’s resurrection.
I have been away on a bit of a hiatus and as I contemplated what to write about this week, the word authenticity came to mind. In my time away, it was not actually deliberate, but a forced time of sabbath rest which I must say, I really enjoyed. Taking time off from homeschooling, blogging, self-publishing (but you know, “wifing” and “mothering” still goes on) has truly blessed my soul. In the words of Yolanda Adams, “The Lord knows what you need, and He knows when you really need it”.
Which brings me to that word: authenticity. We may wear many hats, and can be pulled in multiple directions and that is okay as long as we know what we are doing, why we are doing it and who we are doing it for.
Does life feel authentic or do you feel like you are just going through the motions; fulfilling your duties; and going along with the program?
It can be easy for us to put on a face for others when deep inside we are unfulfilled, fearful or feel inadequate. How does one live a life that is authentic and fulfilling?
Writing about destiny is one of my favorite subjects because destiny pulls you into purpose. When you live a purpose-driven life, you are fulfilled. There is a scripture in the Book of Psalms that says if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts. Now, to me that can be interpreted at least two ways. First, if we seek godliness with contentment, we shall experience God’s goodness in ways that we truly desire. Second, if we are delighting in Him, He will give us “desires” and then He will fulfill those desires. Thus, causing us to lead fulfilling lives that glorify Him!
However, the enemy of our souls is not going to roll out the red carpet and allow us to just walk into God’s plan for us without a fight. Which brings me to another one of my favorite topics: Spiritual Warfare. We have so many hinderances that we allow to hinder us from our God-given abundant life: A life of authenticity where we are all what God created us to be for His glory in the earth realm.
It does not matter on what level we are walking out our calling. The only One that we should be trying to impress is the One Who empowers us to be the best form of ourselves; fulfilling His will and being a blessing to others however and wherever that may be; with a heart and a mind to please Him.
If our purpose is to do His Will, then He will see to it that our purpose if fulfilled.
Living an authentic life requires us to be sold out to Jesus. We don’t have to hide who we truly are from Him (in fact we can not, right?). But instead we can come boldly to the throne of grace and ask for His help in those areas that we try to hide from others. You know, I am very aware of the fact that sometimes we don’t realize how jacked up we are until God reveals it to us in some way. But when He does reveal our wicked ways, know that that it is an opportunity to be set free by confessing our sins (to Him and to others if necessary), and He has promised to forgive us for our sins and cause us to be in right standing with Him.
O how wonderful it is to be free! For me, it was a journey of low self-esteem, ungratefulness, anger just to name a few. These are all spiritual enemies that seek to keep us from living the full potential of our existence.
But Jesus has admonished us that if we seek first the Kingdom of God, all of the things that we need that pertain to life and godliness shall be added to us (Matthew 6:33, II Peter 1:3). In order to find our lives, our purpose, our destiny, we have to be willing to lose it. And God promises us that if we are “willing and obedient, we shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19).
To say that that is scary is an understatement. The good news is that we don’t have to take this journey alone, nor do we have to accomplish this task all at once. One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all I am asking of you.
The Lord informed the children of Israel as they prepared to take their promised possession, that He would not give it to them all at once.
By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.
EXODUS 23:30
The Lord has promised us (through the sacrifice of Jesus), that He will be with us every step of the way. He says that He will never leave us or forsake us.
As we seek Him daily through His Word, prayer, praise and worship (whatever resonates with you), He is driving out our spiritual enemies and causing us to live that authentic life.
